Notable Transactions:

  • Provided transactional advice on the Ghanaian aspects of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts’s acquisition of Unilever's spreads business globally for €6.825 billion. The Firm continues to assist and to provide legal advice to the local entity.
  • Advised AngloGold Limited in respect of its USD 1.89 billion merger with Ashanti Goldfields Ltd, Ghana’s largest gold producer at the time.
  • Advised Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Limited in respect of its multimillion US Dollar acquisition of Kama Industries Limited.
  • Acted for the majority shareholder of Guinness Ghana Limited in its takeover of Ghana Breweries Limited.
  • Advised in a merger of the oil and gas businesses of two multinational conglomerates. The combined merger resulted in a world leading oilfield technology provider with a unique mix of service and equipment capabilities. JLD & MB provided transactional assistance and advice to the client to help navigate the regulatory landscape in Ghana.
